The Vengeance of Broken Bones

Chapter 1
I was in a meeting when the nanny video-called me.
“Mrs. Peterson, you need to get home, like, now! Lily’s leg’s been broken!”
The camera was shaking like crazy.
The nanny looked terrified.
“What happened? You were at home! How did this even happen?” I demanded.
She started to answer, and the call dropped.
Then someone posted a picture in the neighborhood group chat.
“Didn’t think trailer trash could afford to live in this neighborhood! Good thing my son taught her a lesson!”
I tapped the photo.
It was Lily’s smartwatch, covered in blood.
The screen showed a picture of the three of us, happy.
The profile pic for the person who posted?
A wedding photo of some young woman and my husband, Mark.
She tagged me in the group.
“So, you’re the homewrecker? Too bad about your daughter’s leg. Consider it payback for stealing my husband.”
The group chat exploded.
Everyone was trashing me and Lily.
I raced out of the meeting, calling my assistant.
“Lily’s been hurt! Get me a lawyer and a top medical team. I want the people responsible to pay!”
“Also, freeze all of Mark Peterson’s bank accounts. Draft a divorce agreement. I’m taking him for everything he’s worth!”
“A freeloader like him is keeping a mistress and a bastard? He’s got another thing coming!”
I sped home, furious.
As I pulled up, I saw a crowd gathered in the park.
It was the new lady, Tiffany Smith, surrounded by fawning neighbors.
“Mrs. Peterson, you’re so modest! I had no idea you were the CEO’s wife!”
“Right? I knew you had class! Now it all makes sense.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll deal with that tramp. Your son, Ethan, is a chip off the old block! Beating up the mistress, now that’s how you do it!”
The nanny, who’d been so quick to call me, changed her tune too.
“Mrs. Peterson, I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize you were the real Mrs. Peterson. I almost misunderstood the little boy.”
“Don’t worry, I’m a mom, so I would never help a home wrecker.”
Tiffany stood there, chin up, lapping it up.
Mark, my husband, according to them was the CEO of Peterson Enterprises.
When I married him, Peterson was circling the drain, nothing compared to my family’s business.
I put up the cash to keep it afloat.
And he used it to run around with some other women.
I looked around, but I didn’t see Lily.
“Where’s my daughter? Where’s Lily?” I shouted.
The crowd gave me the side eye, but no one answered me.
I grabbed the nanny’s arm.
“Lily! You said she was hurt!”
I saw a broken smartwatch on the ground.
My breath hitched.
The nanny yanked her arm away, looking disgusted.
“Mrs. Peterson…I mean, Ms. Lee. I quit.”
“I thought you and Mr. Peterson were legit. Turns out you were just the mistress. If I knew that, I wouldn’t have worked for you if you were paying me ten times as much!”
I grabbed her collar.
“I treated you well! You let my daughter get hurt, and now you’re quitting? I’ll report you!”
“Tell me where my daughter is!”
She rolled her eyes, all sassy.
“Don’t get mad at me. A mistress’s kid getting hurt? It’s what she deserves. You can’t blame anyone else.”
“It’s called Karma. If I don’t quit, I’ll get a bad rep.”
I tried to keep it cool.
“Making stuff up like that can get you into trouble with the law. You better think about who is the real homewrecker here.”
Tiffany walked over and slapped me hard.
“Trash like you doesn’t belong here! You tired of living?”
“Think you can waltz in here, pop out a kid, and steal my life? Dream on!”
2
My head was ringing.
I could barely hear the neighbors whispering around me.
“Looks so nice, but she is a mistress! Shameless!”
“Some women look innocent but they are really just whores. She must be with him for money, otherwise, why would she have a kid for him when he isn’t even married to her.”
“Yeah, home-wreckers should die! The kids they have deserve to die!”
The comments grew louder.
Some people were even filming on their phones.
Some of them started throwing trash and rotten vegetables at me from the balcony.
I took off my coat and cleaned myself up before asking Tiffany where my daughter was.
“Where is she? If you don’t tell me I will call the police and you’re going to be in serious trouble!”
Tiffany just rolled her eyes.
“What are you going to do? Even if the cops came they would throw you in jail for sleeping with a married man!”
“My husband is the CEO of Peterson Enterprise, even if my son did kill your daughter, we could just pay our way out!”
The neighbors cheered her on.
“She is blaming other people when she is the one who caused all of this.”
“The kid is unlucky to have her as her mom. She deserves what is happening to her!”
Tiffany smirked.
Then she noticed my Hermes bag.
“You! You convinced my husband to buy you such an expensive bag! You aren’t good enough to carry that!”
She ripped the bag off my shoulder, tore it open, and stomped all over it.
“Mistresses should die! Why is my husband’s money paying for you and the little brat!”
Then my car keys fell out.
Tiffany picked them up, pushed the button, and the Maybach a few feet away lit up.
Tiffany lost it.
“You drive a Maybach! I’m the wife and I only drive a BMW! How is that fair?”
She pulled out her lipstick, stormed over to the car, and wrote “mistress dies” on the side.
I just watched and laughed.
“You’re going to be really mad when you find out who that name applies to.”
That just made Tiffany madder.
“You’re trying to trick me!”
“You trying to tell me that the mistress is the one who isn’t loved? Screw you!”
“Today I’m going to show you how mistresses get treated!”
She picked up a brick and smashed the windshield.
Not satisfied, she ordered the neighbors to smash the car up and the interior along with it.
The million-dollar car was a pile of garbage.
I looked at the security camera above and laughed to myself.
“I hope you enjoy paying for all this!”
But they were too crazy to listen to my warning.
Then someone opened the trunk and screamed, “There is a case of wine in here!”
Tiffany laughed.
“It’s just a case of wine, what’s so special about it! I have a lot of it at home!”
“It’s going to be a waste for her to have something like that.”
Tiffany was about to smash the case of wine.
“That case is worth more than the car. You should think about that before you hit it!”
It was a case of 1967 Moutai, my dad was born in 1967, and it was supposed to be his birthday present.
I just got it through customs and then the nanny called.
Tiffany just laughed.
“You aren’t that scary! There is no way a cheap woman like you could ever have something valuable! That Maybach is probably the most expensive thing you own.”
“Even if that wine is valuable, it’s going to be a waste on you! It’s going to be an insult to the drink.”
Tiffany threw it on the ground and broke it.
Then someone found the wine’s auction contract in the trunk.
“This is a case of Moutai from 1967. It was sold at an auction for 30 million!”
Tiffany stopped and stole the contract.
“So what! That’s my husband’s money!”
“My husband’s money is my money, and I can break what I want!”
I was laughing by this point.
Peterson Enterprises has been losing money since I married him.
He couldn’t even afford one percent of that wine, but Tiffany thought he could.
He acted like he was rich, so all the neighbors thought he was loaded and didn’t care about a few million dollars.
And with Tiffany egging them on, they smashed everything in the trunk.
I wanted to find my daughter.
I looked at the camera and went to the security office to look for her.
But the security guard blocked me from entering.
“This place isn’t for mistresses like you!”
I tried to explain what was happening.
“My daughter is hurt, if she doesn’t get medical treatment soon, she’s going to die!”
“I just want to find my daughter!”
The guard smirked.
“If your daughter is lost then find her, don’t bother me!”
“I hate gold diggers like you, getting money just for spreading your legs!”
Then I heard my daughter calling for me from inside the office.
“Mommy, I’m here…”
3
It was Lily! I started running towards the office.
But the guard blocked me again.
“I heard her! She is in there!”
“I live here too, why won’t you let me in?”
The guard laughed.
“You’re only here because of your man! He is the only one who lives here, what are you?”
“I’m helping the wife teach the mistress and her bastard what’s what.”
The neighbors gave the guard a thumbs up.
“This neighborhood is so high quality, even the guard is better than other places!”
“It’s so sad that trash like that lives here, she should be kicked out with her bastard!”
“Yeah, if she grows up she is going to be a home wrecker too!”
Tiffany laughed.
“Everyone, this is what happens when you become a mistress. Women like that should be beaten and never get back up.”
Then the guard pat a boy on the shoulder and gave him a thumbs up.
“Ethan, you’re so great. You know how to help your mom, and will be an amazing person when you grow up!”
The boy was chewing gum.
“That’s nothing! That little bitch was trying to steal my dad, I would have beaten her to death if I could!”
I started shaking and yelled, “I’m going to make you pay for this!”
The neighbors laughed.
“Is she crazy? A mistress making the wife pay? She must be dreaming!”
“Yeah, I bet she has a bad time!”
“Even if I died, I wouldn’t want to have that woman as my mom, that’s so embarrassing!”
The neighbors started shaming me more and more, as if doing that would get them the most money.
Someone even dumped the trash can over my head.
Tiffany loved it and started clapping.
Lily crawled out of the security office, bleeding everywhere.
“Mommy… don’t let them bully my mommy!”
I saw that not only was her leg broken, but she was beaten up everywhere else.
She was pale from all the blood loss.
She was trying her best to crawl out.
I was crying and screaming.
“Did your son do this to my daughter?”
Tiffany didn’t care.
“So what if her leg is broken? She isn’t dead. Selling sob stories isn’t going to work on me.”
The neighbors agreed.
“She shouldn’t have been born. Ethan being nice and only breaking one leg.”
“She got that way because her mom is a mistress. She should have thought of that before she broke up a family!”
The guard patted the young boy on the shoulder.
“Ethan, you’re so great. You know how to help your mom, and will be an amazing person when you grow up!”
The boy was chewing gum.
“That’s nothing! That little bitch was trying to steal my dad, I would have beaten her to death if I could!”
I was shaking and yelled, “I’m going to make you pay for this!”
They started laughing.
“Is she crazy? A mistress making the wife pay? She must be dreaming!”
“Yeah, I bet she has a bad time!”
“Even if I died, I wouldn’t want to have that woman as my mom, that’s so embarrassing!”
They were making fun of me and trying to impress the Petersons.
They even threw the trash can over my head.
Tiffany was laughing the entire time.
Then a car drove up and stopped near the neighborhood entrance.
I saw a familiar figure come out of the car.
4
It was Mark.
He was wearing a suit, and walking towards us.
The neighbors were stunned.
“The CEO of Peterson Enterprises looks amazing! He is so handsome!”
