About this book
A winter retreat was supposed to offer Quin McCarthy a quiet escape. Instead, it brings him face to face with the one person he hoped never to see again.
Quin is a celebrated Hollywood actor, while Cole Milton is a Formula 1 driver whose reputation has made him unpopular with almost everyone. Their first encounter at the Singapore Grand Prix ends badly, and neither expects their paths to cross again. But when Quin relocates to a remote Canadian town to film a thriller series, he discovers that his nearest neighbor is none other than Cole.
Quin plans to keep his distance and enjoy peaceful evenings away from the spotlight. Those plans unravel when he discovers a dead body on the film set and catches sight of the suspected killer fleeing the scene. With danger closing in, he has little choice but to turn to Cole. As they work together, their assumptions about each other begin to shift, revealing a more complicated connection beneath their initial hostility.
Amy James blends contemporary M/M romance with a murder mystery, a wintry setting, and the high-profile world of Formula 1. The story explores first impressions, grief, vulnerability, trust, and the possibility of finding love in an unexpected place.
Readers can expect romantic tension, opposites-attract chemistry, suspense, and two characters learning to look beyond public reputations. It is suited to readers of queer contemporary romance, sports romance, enemies-to-lovers stories, and romantic mysteries with emotional depth.
